Chapter 2 Setting up the NX-1701E
Overview
The NX-1701E is a proximity card reader/door control module. Up to 15 readers can be connected to
the NX control panel (depending on panel type). The NX-1701E can be programmed to control
access in any or all partitions. The LEDs can be programmed to follow the output and/or the armed or
ready status of the system. It has an optional optical tamper switch.

There are three badging actions that can activate a particular function or an X-10 device. These
actions are different depending on whether you are in default mode or legacy mode.
In default mode:
Single badge (1 beep) - a proximity card is held against the proximity reader for one
beep.
Double badge (2 beeps) - a proximity card is held against the proximity reader for two
beeps.
Badge hold (3 beeps) - a proximity card is held near the proximity reader for three
beeps.
In legacy mode:
Single badge (1 beep) - a proximity card is held once against the proximity reader.
Double badge (2 beeps) - a proximity card is held against the proximity reader twice
within the time set in Scan Time.
