Optics
and

attenuation

the
la
se
r beam. A
procedure
for
clea
ning
the
OpticS
is
provided
below.
CLEANING
T
HE
MEA
S
UREMENT
DISPLAY
UNIT'S
AIR
F
ILTER
Th
e air filter
at
the top
of
the Measurement Display
unit
's
rear panel should be clea ned
periodi
ca
lly
or
when it
has
collect
ed
excessive
dirt.
To
dean
the
filter,
-
a.
Remo
ve
the POSIDRIV screw that fastens the right-hand side of the
filter
hold
er
to
the
Measurement Display unit
's
rear panel. (This scr
ew
is just to the left
of
the
RM
T
CON
T
connector.) Gently
pull
the right-hand side
of
the
filter
holder
away
from
the r
ea
r
panel;
the left-hand side of the filter"'holder is held by a tab thai s
lid
es
into
a s
lot
in the pane
l.

Remove the filter
from
the holder and clean it by
blowing
co
mpre
sse
d air
thr
ough it fr
om
the inside out.
If
the filter is too
dirt
y to
dea
n
with
air,
wa
sh the filt
er
el
eme
nt in
hot
wa
ter
and a
mild
detergent. Dry the
filter
before
reinstalling.

CALIBRATION
Optionally,
an
Air
Sen
sor and Material Temperature
Se
n
so
r(s)
ca
n be co
nn
ected to
the
M
eas
urement Disp
la
y un
it
for
automatic
compe
n
sa
tion. In order
to
maintain the accuracy of a
La
ser
Meas
ur
ement System that includes these
se
n
so
rs, the
se
n
so
rs and the
Measurement
Display should
be
ca
librated once a
yea
r
or
when
required
because
of
repair.
Ca
librati
on
pr
ocedures are
pr
ovided in
Sect
ion 4
of
the l
ase
r M
eas
ur
eme
nt
System's Service
Manual.
If sensors arc used with the system, two voltage referen
ces
and an Analog-to-Digital Converter
in
th
e Meas
ur
ement Display
unit
must be
ca
librated. However, if
se
nsors are n
ot
used, this
ca
libration is n
ot
needed.
Se
nsor calibration requires special
equipment
,
so
the
se
n
so
rs must be
returned
to
H
ew
l
ett-
Packard
for

e.
