Steering Wheel
Removal and Installation
See Figure 7-5.
1. Park the mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-7.)

2. Remove (unsnap) the cap (1) from the steering
wheel (3).
3. Remove nut (2), and remove the steering wheel (3)
from the steering column (4).
Installation Notes
• Install the steering wheel by reversing the order of
removal.
• Apply Loctite
®
243 medium-strength, oil-resistant
thread locker to the threads on the steering column.
• Tighten nut (2) to 25 lb-ft (34 N·m).

1. Park the mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-7.)
2. Remove steering wheel. (See “Steering Wheel” on
page 7-7.)

3. Remove six (three each side) screws (2) and flat
washers (3).
4. Remove cover (1) from the steering tower.
5. Using the steering tilt control, tilt the steering column
back. (Refer to the “Safety, Operation and
Maintenance Manual.”)
