Reassembly
NOTE: The governor gear sha is pressed into the
closure plate and should not be removed.
3. Install one thrust washer onto the governor cross
sha and slide the sha up through the inside of
the crankcase. See Figure 11-12.

4. Install the second fl at washer onto the sha .
Position the sha so the fl at index end of the sha
faces to the le (9 o'clock position) and insert the
hitch pin from the PTO side. See Figure 11-13.

1. If the sha was removed in disassembly, use an
arbor press to install the new sha to a height
of 16.025 mm (0.6309 in.) from the closure plate
sealing surface. See Figure 11-14.

2. Place the washer onto the sha , then place the
governor gear onto the sha .
3. Press a new ring onto the sha about 1/8 in.
4. Pull the governor gear up until it makes contact
with the ring, then place the pin in the cup,
retaining the rim with the weights. See Figure
11-15.

5. Push down on the pin, snapping the ring into the
sha groove.
6. Pull up slightly on the governor gear to ensure
the assembly is installed correctly.
7. Install one thrust washer onto the governor cross
sha and slide the sha up through the inside of
the crankcase. See Figure 11-16.
