Reassembly
Flywheel
Woodruff Key
1. Install the woodruff key into the keyway of the
cranksha . Make sure that the key is properly
seated and parallel with taper of sha . See Figure
11-36.

2. Install the fl ywheel onto the cranksha , being
careful not to shi the position of the woodruff
key.
3. Install fl ywheel shield and secure with one hex
fl ange screw (CH270 only). See Figure 11-37.

4. Install the fan bosses into the matching holes in
the fl ywheel. See Figure 11-38.

5. Position the drive cup on the fl ywheel, engaging
the boss on its base with the corresponding hole
in the fl ywheel. Hold in position and install
the hex fl ange nut. Finger tighten to keep cup
indexed. See Figure 11-39.
NOTE: The CH395, CH440 has a boss on the fan and
a hole in the drive cup.

6. Use a fl ywheel holding tool and torque wrench to
tighten the fl ywheel nut. See Figure 11-40. Torque
the hex fl ange nut to:
CH270 74 N·m (655 in. lb.)
CH395, CH440 113 N·m (1000 in. lb.)
