Enclosures
The degree of protecon indicates the suitability of a motor for specic ambient condions
with regard to humidity as well as the protecon against contact and the ingress of foreign
parcles. The degrees of protecon are classied by EN 60529.
The rst code number aer the code leers IP indicates the protecon against the ingress of
foreign parcles and dust. The second code number refers to the protecon against the ingress
of humidity.
Code number 1 Degree of protecon Code number 2 Degree of protecon
0 No protecon 0 No protecon
1 Protecon against the ingress of foreign parcles d >
50 mm. No protecon in case of deliberate access.
1 Protecon against vercally dripping water (dripping
water).
2 Protecon against medium-sized foreign parcles,
d > 12 mm, keeping away ngers or similar.
2 Protecon against diagonally falling water (dripping
water), 15 ° compared to normal service posion.
3 Protecon against small foreign parcles d > 2.5 mm.
Keeping away tools, wires or similar.
3 Protecon against spraying water, up to 60 ° to the ver-
cal
4 Protecon against granular foreign parcles, d > 1 mm,
keeping away tools, wire or similar.
4 Protecon against spraying water from all direcons.
5 Protecon against dust deposits (dust-protected), com-
plete protecon against contact.
5 Protecon against water jets from all direcons.
6 Protecon against the ingress of dust (dust-proof),
complete protecon against contact.
6 Protecon against choppy seas or heavy water jets
(ood protecon).
