Enclosures
The degree of protecon indicates the suitability of a motor for specic ambient condions
with regard to humidity as well as the protecon against contact and the ingress of foreign
parcles. The degrees of protecon are classied by EN 60529.
The rst code number aer the code leers IP indicates the protecon against the ingress of
foreign parcles and dust. The second code number refers to the protecon against the ingress
of humidity.
Code number 1 Degree of protecon Code number 2 Degree of protecon
0 No protecon 0 No protecon
1 Protecon against the ingress of foreign parcles d >
50 mm. No protecon in case of deliberate access.
1 Protecon against vercally dripping water (dripping
water).
2 Protecon against medium-sized foreign parcles,
d > 12 mm, keeping away ngers or similar.
2 Protecon against diagonally falling water (dripping
water), 15 ° compared to normal service posion.
3 Protecon against small foreign parcles d > 2.5 mm.
Keeping away tools, wires or similar.
3 Protecon against spraying water, up to 60 ° to the ver-
cal
4 Protecon against granular foreign parcles, d > 1 mm,
keeping away tools, wire or similar.
4 Protecon against spraying water from all direcons.
5 Protecon against dust deposits (dust-protected), com-
plete protecon against contact.
5 Protecon against water jets from all direcons.
6 Protecon against the ingress of dust (dust-proof),
complete protecon against contact.
6 Protecon against choppy seas or heavy water jets
(ood protecon).
