CYLINDER HEAD REMOVAL, CONT.
2. Loosen each of the four cylinder head bolts
evenly 1/8 turn each time in a criss-cross
pattern until loose.
3. Remove bolts (A) and tap cylinder head lightly
with a plastic hammer until loose. CAUTION:
Tap only in reinforced areas or on thick parts of
cylinder head casting to avoid damaging the
thread.
4. Remove cylinder head and head gasket.
CYLINDER HEAD INSPECTION
1. Thoroughly clean cylinder head surface to remove
alltraces of gasket materialandcarbon. CAUTION:
Use care not to damage sealing surface.
CYLINDER HEAD WARPAGE
1. Layastraightedgeacrossthesurfaceofthecylinder
head at several different points and measure
warpage by inserting a feeler gauge between the
straight edge and the cylinder head surface. If
warpage exceeds the service limit, replace the
cylinder head.

Cylinder Head Warpage Limit:
.002″ (.05 mm)
