CAUSE

The diameter of the flange attached to the heating roller is smaller than the prescribed

specification. The problem occurs in the following sequence:

Thermal expansion and

contraction causes the

flange to slip inside the

heating roller.

The edge of the heating

roller swells over time.

The swollen edge of the

heating roller contacts

the fusing belt, and

eventually tears the

belt.
