A prerequisite for the steering valve function is the backlash in the steering, which must always
return to the starting position when the steering wheel is released.
Test by slowly turning the steering wheel in any direction with the engine off.
At first there is a slight resistance, which increases when the machine starts moving. Once the
steering wheel has been released, the car is unable to automatically resume a straight trajectory
after a curve, just like it occurs with a car.
If the steering fails, this may not always be due to a failure in the steering booster. Failures
can also occur in simpler mechanical parts, such as chains, cogwheels and pinions.
Transmission replacement does not have to be the first option to fix steering prob-
lems.
