Version 5.8 37 July 2009
Installation Manual 2. Physical Description
2.9 Power Supply
The device can be powered from one of the following power sources (depending on
customer order):
AC power source (refer to ''AC Power System'' on page 37)
DC p
ower source (refer to ''DC Power System'' on page 41)
Notes:
• Currently, the AC power option is supported only by Mediant 3000.
• To change the Mediant 3000's power system (i.e., AC to DC, or DC to
AC), you need to change your chassis. Please contact AudioCodes for
further information.
DC input range:
• The device is designed to be powered from -48 VDC grounded DC power
systems
• Reverse-polarity protected
AC input:
• Universal 100 to 240 VAC input
• Power factor correction (AC input)
Active current load sharing on positive outputs (V1, V2 )
Integral LED status indicators
Hot-pluggable connector, with staged pin lengths
Hot swappable
Optimized thermal management
Control and monitoring features
Power for the device is provided from either AC or DC redundant power feeds, where AC
input voltage ranges from 100 to 240 VAC, 50/60 Hz and DC input voltage ranges from -
40.5 to -60 VDC. The power entry modules are PEM/AC/3K or PEM/DC/3K for AC and DC
respectively. Power supply units function in a load-sharing configuration to provide
necessary voltages and fail-safe operation.
The PS/AC/3K or PS/DC/3K power supply modules are multi-output switching power
supplies, provided in AC or DC primary input power configurations respectively. LEDs
indicate power and fault status. The AC or DC power supply comes in an ultra-compact
design measuring 4 x 12.7 x 28 cm (1.6 x 5 x 11 inch), for a 6.8 watt/inch3 power density
output. The unit has a handle for easy removal and re-insertion, under power (hot-swap
capable).
