Version 5.8 83 July 2009
Installation Manual 5. Assigning an IP Address
¾ To initially assign a global IP address to Mediant 3000 HA, using the Web
interface:
1. Assign the device's two blades with new private IP addresses so that they correspond
to your network's IP addressing scheme:
a. Start a BootP server application (refer to ''Assigning an IP Address Using BootP''
on page 79),
and then add a BootP client for each blade with the new private IP
address of the blade, as shown in the example below.

b. Power down and then power up the chassis; the blade in Slot 1 sends a BootP
request to the network and the BootP server sends the new private IP address to
the blade. In the BootP application, verify that the blade has received its new
private IP address (after approximately 15 seconds).
c. After powering down and up the chassis in Step b, wait about 20 seconds, and
then power down and power up the chassis once again; the blade in Slot 3 sends
a BootP request to the network and the BootP server sends the new private IP
address to the blade. In the BootP application, verify that this second blade has
received its new IP address (after approximately 20 seconds).
