5 Assigning an IP Address
The device is supplied with application software (cmp file) residing on its flash memory.
This software is set to factory default settings such as MAC and IP address. However, you
may need to change the device's default IP address to correspond with your network
environment. This section describes IP address assignment for the following:
Assigning an IP address to IPmedia 3000 and Mediant 3000 in Simplex mode (refer to
“Assigning an IP Address to IPmedia 3000 and Mediant 3000 Simplex” below)
Assigning an IP address to Mediant 3000 in HA mode (refer to ''Assigning an IP
Address for Mediant 3000 HA'' on page 81)
5.1 Assigning an IP Address to IPmedia 3000 and Media
3000 Simplex
This section describes how to change the device's (Mediant 3000 Simplex and IPmedia
3000) default IP address so that it corresponds with your network environment.

To assign an IP address to the device, use one of the following methods:
Device's HTTP-based embedded Web server `accessed using a Web browser (refer to
''Assigning an IP Address using HTTP'' on page 77).
BootP (refer to ''Assigning an IP Address using BootP'' on page 79).
Embedded Command Line Interface (CLI), accessed using RS-232 (if supported) or
Telnet (refer to ''Assigning an IP Address using the CLI'' on page 80).
Dynamic Host Control Protocol (DHCP) - refer to the User's Manual.
