3. Getting started
3.1 Installation requirements
Environment conditions
Table below summar izes the physical environment in which the DP2K-S series pr ojector m ay be safely opera ted or stored.
Environment Operating Non-Operating
Ambient Temperature 10°C ( 50°F) to 35°C (95°F) -15°C (5°F) to 60°C (140°F)
Humidity 5% to 85% RH Non-condensed 5% to 95% RH Non-Condensed
Altitude -60 (-197Ft) to 3000m (9843Ft) -60 (-197Ft) to 10000m (32810Ft)
Let the projector acclimatize after u npacking. Neg lecting this may result in a startup failure of the
Light Pro-
cessor U nit.
Cooling r equirements
The projector is fan cooled and must be installed w ith sufficient space around the projector head, m inimum 20 cm (8 inch) to ensure
sufficient air flow. It s hould be used in an area wher e the ambient temperature, as measured at the projector air inlet, does not
exceed 35°C ( 95°F).
The pr ojector is c apable of autonomous, stand alone cooling. Two exhaust options are poss ible:
1. RE AR EXHAUST (Option): Simply expel the hot air via the back housing into the room/booth/cabin.
In this case an external exhaust system is not required.
2. TOP EXHAU ST (S ta n dard): Attach the standard exhaust stack [positioned towards the top/back of the projector and designed
to fit a 201m m (7.91inch) diameter duct] to the air extraction system. This flow size must be used throughout the entire system
and installed to eliminate any possibility of downdraft or rain dripping into the projector.
In this case the installation of an external exhaust system is M ANDATORY for safety reasons (possible direct eye contact
with UV light of the xenon lamp). The installed exhaust b lower must rem ove an air volume of minimum 4m
3
/min (140 CFM)
measured at the exhaust output of the projector. Although not obligatory, Barco also advises to limit the amount of extraction to
a m aximu m of 5m
3
/min (180 CFM). Excessive air extraction can dram atically s peed-up contamination of the projector air inlet
filters, hence requiring more re gular filter cleaning interventions.
• If the projector is installed into a “sound b ox ” the following applies: minimum extraction requirement for the complete projector:
7m
3
/min (240CFM), maximum advised extraction requirement: 8m
3
/min (280 CF M ).
• If dual s tacking app lies, ens ure that the upper projector is t hermally insulated from the bottom pr ojector. Typically in dual stack-
ing the bottom p rojector is installed with a “rear exha ust”.
• An external frame must be used to s tack projectors.
• Where the projectors are installed close to each o ther, ensure that the projectors do not thermally affect each other.
CAUTION: If more than one projector is installed in a common projection booth, the abo ve exh aust air flow
requirements are va lid for E ACH individual projector head exhaust stack. Note that inadequate air extraction
will result in decreased life expectancy of the projector as a w hole as well as causing premature xenon lamp
failure .
Main Power r equirements
The D P2K-S series projector operates from a nominal m ono phase power net with a separate earth ground P E.
Projector Power requirements
DP2K-10S 200-240 VA C, 50-60Hz, 16A at 200 VA C
DP2K-10Sx 200-240 VAC, 50-60Hz, 16A at 200 VA C
The power c ord required to c onnect the projector with the power net is not delivered with the projector. It is the responsibility of the
customer to provide the correct type of power c ord. The cross-sectional area of the conductors in the power supply cord shall not
be less than 2.5mm
2
(12AWG), minim um 300V. Take into account that the c able gland allows a cable d iameter from 8 to 13m m.
To protect operating personnel, the N ational Electrical M anufacturers A ssociation (NEMA) recomm ends that the instrument panel
and cabinet be grounded. In no event shall this pr ojector be operated without an adequa te ca binet ground connection.
The AC supply must be installed by a qualified e lectrician in conformance to local codes. Hardware, wire sizes and conduit types
must c omply with local codes.
A readily accessible disconnect device s hall be incorporated externally to the equipment for removal of the power to the equipment
mains terminals.
