● To connect the motor to a converter, use MOTION-CONNECT cables or shielded
connecting cables from the terminal box or power connector interface.
Note
The maximum total length o
f the connecting cable is 50 m with or without VPM.
With a star/delta changeover in the control cabinet, the maximum total length of the
connecting cable from the supply line to the cabinet and the return line to the motor adds
up
. The maximum length of th
e supply line to the control cabinet and the return line to the
motor is 25
m in each case.
● Due to the high voltages, use cables for higher mechanical requirements in combination
with a connection socket and VPM.
Connecting Pt1000 temperature sensors
Circuit examples for evaluating temperatures are provided in Chapter "Signal connection and
motor protection (Page 160)"
7.2.5 Notes on choosing the connecting leads
Note
As a result of the converter operation, high
-frequency current and voltage oscillations in the
motor feeder cables can cause electromagnetic interference.
Use only shielded power and signal cables.
● Select the connecting cables appropriate for the rated dynamic current and the plant-
specific conditions, e.g. ambient temperature, routing type. Observe IEC / EN 60364-5-52
and IEC / EN 60204-1.
-carrying capacity of PVC/PUR-insulated copper cables is specified in EN 60204-
● Use prefabricated cables from Siemens. These cables reduce the installation time and
costs and increase operational reliability.
● Use EMC cable glands for permanently installed cable entries.
