8.3 Checklist prior to commissioning
The following chapter describes the checks of the completely installed machine or system
prior to commissioning.
Note
Required checks
The lists below do not purport to be complete. It may be necessary to perform additi
onal
checks and tests in accordance with the situation specific to the particular instal
lation site.
Before commissioning the system, check that it is properly installed and connected.
Commission the drive system according to the operating instructions of the converter or
inverter being used.
Precondition
The machine or system is fully installed and connected.
All safety equipment is connected and functional.
Procedure
Check the machine or system according to the following checklists and record the results.
Checklist (1) - General checks
Thoroughly familiarize yourself with the safety instructions and observe the checklists below
before starting any work.
Are all of the necessary components of the configured drive line-up available, correctly
dimensioned, installed and connected?
Is the manufacturer documentation for the system components (e.g. drive system,
encoder, cooling system, brake) and the "SIMOTICS M-1FE2 built-in motors" Configu-
If you want to operate the 1FE2 motor on the SINAMICS S120 drive system, is the
following, up-to-date SINAMICS documentation available?
• SINAMICS S120 Commissioning Manual
• Getting Started S120
• S120 Function Manual
• S120/150 List Manual
• SINAMICS S120 Equipment Manual
If you want to operate the 1FE2 motor on the SINAMICS S120 drive system, make
sure that the "Checklists for commissioning SINAMICS S" in the SINAMICS S120
Commissioning Manual have been observed.
Is the motor type to be commissioned known?

Are the environmental conditions in the permissible range?
