sweep to jump to the next p oint when the signal b ecomes TRUE,
therefore the rst p oint in the list or stepp ed sweeps is pro duced
immediately up on starting the sweep. Receiving a trigger signal at
the last p oint causes the IDLE state to be re-entered. Analog sweeps
do not use the trigger signals during the sweep (although the trigger
signals are needed to start the sweep as described).
The
ABORt
command resets anysweep in progress and immediately
returns the instrument to the IDLE state.
The
*WAI, *OPC
and
*OPC?
commands indicate a complete op eration
at the end of the sweep up on re-entry into the IDLE state.
Advanced Trigger Configurations
Because the SCPI layered trigger mo del is expandable, many more
complex trigger congurations are p ossible.
Trigger Keyword
Definitions
The following paragraphs contain condensed denitions of the
keywords used in the command tables. Many of the commands in
trigger related subsystems are
event commands
. Rememb er that
event commands cannot be queried. Similarly, event commands
have no related
*RST
actions or settings. Event commands cause a
particular action to take place inside the swept signal generator.
ABORt
The
ABORt
command forces the trigger system to the idle state. An
y
measurement or output sequence in pro cess is ab orted as quic
kly as
possible.
ABORt
does not alter the settings programmed by other
commands, unlike
*RST
.
ABORt
is a ro ot level event command and
cannot b e queried.
IMMediate
The
IMMediate
command provides a one-time override of the normal
downward path in an event-detection state. The instrumentmust be
in the sp ecied event detection state when
IMMediate
is received, or
an error is generated and the command has no eect. For example,
the instrumentmust b e in the TRIG state for
:TRIGger:IMMediate
to work prop erly. If the instrument is in the idle state, the command
has no eect, and an error would b e generated.
IMMediate
is an
event command and cannot be queried.
ODELay
The
ODELay
command sp ecies the time between the source
settling and the time the trigger out signal is sent. Specifying
:TRIGger:ODELay <num>{time suffix}
instructs the swept
signal generator to set the sp ecied time as the dela
y necessary to
ensure prop er settling. Sending
*RST
sets
ODELay
to an instrument
dependentvalue, usually zero.
