The 8360 has two unleveled mo des, ALC o and searc h. In ALC o mo de, the
modulator drive can b e controlled from the front panel to vary quiescent RF output
level. In search mo de, the instrument micropro cessor momentarily closes the ALC lo op
to nd the mo dulator drive setting necessary to make the quiescent RF output level
equal to an entered value, then op ens the ALC lo op while maintaining that mo dulator
drive setting. Neither of these modes is feedbac
k leveled.
