Chapter 5: Diagnostics, maintenance, and testing
200 EST iO64 and iO500 Technical Reference Manual
Replacing a device in alarm
You can replace a device while it is in alarm with a new device of the
same type. You may need to do this because the device is faulty or
for other troubleshooting reasons. If you replace a device while it is
in alarm, the following describes how the device and control panel
operate.
When the device in alarm is removed, the control panel remains
in alarm and a trouble event is displayed.
When the new device is installed, it does not go into alarm, but
a second trouble event is displayed on the control panel when it
detects the new device.
When the control panel resolves the new device, the alarm
condition restores and the two trouble events clear on the
control panel.
Note: If the device causing the alarm is reinstalled, the device goes
back into alarm and the alarm condition does not restore.
