Caution
Disconnecting and connecting the battery as described in the
Workshop Manual ⇒ page 29 .
Note
♦ After installing a new steering column electronics control unit
-J527- , it must be coded ⇒ page 227 .
♦ In the event of faults in the steering column switch, the coding
of the steering column electronics control unit -J527- must be
checked ⇒ page 227 .
Fault detection and fault display:
The steering column electronics control unit -J527- is equipped
with self-diagnosis, which is designed to ease fault finding.
For fault finding, use the vehicle diagnosis, testing and informa‐
tion system -VAS 5051A- in “guided fault finding” mode.
