4Testing
You can test the auto-reclosing function, for example, during commis-
sioning or after a configuration change. You can test the function with, for
example, the protection and trip functions and the synchro-check function
(with energizing check).
Fig. 10 illustrates a recommended testing scenario, where the circuit
breaker is simulated by an external bistable relay (BR) such as RXMVB2
or RXMVE1. These manual switches are available:
• Switch close (SC)
• Switch trip (ST)
• Switch ready (SRY).
SC and ST can be push-button with spring return. If no bistable relay is
available, you can replace it with two self-reset auxiliary relays as in Fig.
10.
Use a secondary injection relay test set to operate the protection function.
You can use the BR to control the injected analogue quantities so that the
fault only appears when the BR is picked up—simulating a closed breaker
position.
To make the arrangement more elaborate, include the simulation of the
Breaker charged condition, or AR01-CBREADY for these sequences:
• Close-Open (CO), or
• Open-Close-Open (OCO)
The AR01-CBREADY condition at the CO sequence type is usually low
for a recharging time of 5-10 s after a closing operation. Then it is high.
The example shows that it is simulated with SRY, a manual switch.
4.1 Suggested testing
procedure:
4.1.1 Preparations 1.1 Check the settings of the auto-reclosing (AR) function. The operation
can be set at Stand by (Off).

If any time settings are changed so as to speed-up or facilitate the
testing, they must later be changed back to normal, and a verification
test must be made after that.
