Screw a M10x120 screw in the secondary shaft hole, from the alternator side, to make it
easier to extract the gearbox unit.
•
Use a rubber mallet to tap on the sec-
ondary shaft from the alternator side to
detach the gearbox cover from the
crankcase.
•
Remove the complete gearbox unit.

Disassembling the gearbox
Based on the design development of the engine, some gear components can have superficial treat-
ments of different types.
Some components of the gear can have a superficial cover in WC/C.
This coating consists of a layer composed of tungsten carbide lamellae alternating with amorphous
carbon lamellae. The coating WC/C has an elevated hardness and a good resistance to wear. The main
reason for using this coating is its extremely low friction coefficient, making this an ideal treatment for
preventing adhesion phenomena such as seizing and cold welding. The treatment has a characteristic
colouring, darker than at a traditional operation.

1. Primary shaft
2. the gear of 3a-4a of the primary shaft;
3. All forks
