Adjusting
The vehicle has an endless chain, without master link.
NOTE
CARRY OUT MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS AT HALF THE INTERVALS SPECIFIED IF THE VE-
HICLE IS USED IN PARTICULAR RAINY OR DUSTY CONDITIONS, OFF ROAD OR FOR TRACK
USE.
CLEARANCE CHECK
To check the clearance:
•
Shut off the engine.
•
Rest the vehicle on its stand.
•
Select neutral.
•
Check that the vertical oscillation at a
point between the pinion and the
sprocket on the lower branch of the
chain is about 30 mm (1.18 in).
•
Move the vehicle forward in order to
check the vertical oscillation of the
chain also in other positions; the chain
deflection must be constant throughout
the entire rotation of the wheel.
ADJUSTMENT
CAUTION
TO ADJUST THE CHAIN GET A SPECIFIC REAR SERVICE
STAND.
If you need to adjust the chain tension after the
check:
•
Place the vehicle on its rear service
stand.
•
Loosen the nut (1) completely.
•
Loosen the two lock nuts (4).
•
Use the adjuster screw (5) to adjust the
chain clearance checking that the ref-
erences (2-3) match on both sides of
the vehicle.
•
Tighten the two lock nuts (4).
•
Tighten the nut (1).
•
Check the chain clearance.
