NOTE: Models with “E” prefix, for dispensing up to and including E85, must use only the
following hose and accessories. All connections for these devices must use UL
Classified Saf-T-Lok Teflon pipe sealant:
OPW hose nozzle valves models: 21GE, 21GEA
OPW breakaway model: OPW 66V-0492
OPW swivel connector model: 241TPS-0492
Veyance Technologies hose assembly model: Flexsteel Futura Ethan-All
3.4.2 Vapor Recovery Nozzles
 The Select nozzle boot is approved for the Emco Wheaton A4015 short spout balance
vapor recovery nozzle and the Husky V short spout balance vapor recovery nozzle.
Use only UL listed hoses, nozzles, breakaways, and other hose accessories. Continuity
must be present between the dispenser outlet and nozzle spout to prevent static discharge
while fueling. Continuity must be checked for the outlet/hose assembly to insure that the
nozzle is grounded. Failure to do so may result in a hazardous condition that could cause
serious injury or death.
3.5 DEF Hose and Accessories Installation
3.5.1 Nozzle
When filling DEF tanks, the nozzle should be UL-Listed for use with DEF. Threads provided
with nozzle are 1” BSP. Do not use Teflon tape or sealant when mounting hose to nozzle.
The following nozzle is UL listed:
Husky hose nozzle valves model: 8735
3.5.2 Breakaway/Swivel
When filling DEF tanks, the nozzle should be UL-Listed for use with DEF. Threads provided
with nozzle are 1” BSP. Do not use Teflon tape or sealant when mounting hose to nozzle.
The following breakaways and swivel connectors are UL listed:
Husky breakaway models: 7219 or 8216 Safe-T-Break
Husky swivel connector models: 7269, 7467, 8510
3.5.3 Hose
When filling DEF tanks, the hose should be UL-Listed for use with DEF. Threads provided
for the hose should be 1” BSP to match the nozzle and the DEF outlet adapter. Do not use
Teflon tape or sealant when mounting hose to nozzle or to the dispenser. The hose should
be sized according to the specific installation to prevent it from dragging on the ground.
Dispensers supplied to dispense DEF are equipped with an adapter on the outlet to convert
the threads from 1” NPT to 1” BSP. The following hose assembly is UL Listed:
Elaflex hose assembly model: Slimline 16
3.5.4 Sealant
When making connections on NPT pipes, it is important to use the correct sealant to reduce
the possibility for leaks. Loctite 567 is recommended to be used as a sealant along with
Loctite activator 7649. Apply the activator onto both surfaces and allow it to dry before
applying the sealing compound. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for use of these
materials. Do not use Teflon tape. Do not use any sealing compound on BSPP fittings.
These fittings are provided with an o-ring which forms the proper seal.
Use only Nozzle, Hoses and Accessories that are specifically designed for use with DEF.
The use of components not compatible with DEF can cause premature failures and leaks.
Incompatible material can also contaminate the DEF which can potentially damage to the
vehicle’s SCR system. The use of improper nozzles can lead to DEF being dispensed into
diesel or other fuel tanks. This could cause serious damage to the vehicle’s engine.
