2-46 Basic Configuration

Usethiscommandtocleartheuserdefinedconfigurationparameters.
Syntax
clear config [all]
Parameters
Defaults
Ifallisnotspecified,stackingconfigurationparameterswillnotbecleared.
Mode
Switchcommand,readwrite.
Usage
ExecutingthiscommandwillcleartheconfigurationinbothNVRAMandonthememorycard,if
oneisinstalledontheswitch.
ThiscommandwillnotcleartheIPaddressoftheswitch.Usetheclearipaddresscommandto
cleartheIPaddress.
Whenusingtheclearconfigcommandtoclear
configurationparametersinastack,itisimportant
torememberthefollowing:
•UseclearconfigtoclearconfigurationparameterswithoutclearingstackunitIDs.This
commandWILLNOTclearstackparametersandavoidstheprocessofrenumberingthe
stack.
•Useclearconfigallwhenitisnecessarytoclearall
configurationparameters,includingstack
unitIDs(ifapplicable)andswitchpriorityvalues.
•UsetheclearipaddresscommandtocleartheIPaddress.
Configurationparametersandstackinginformationcanalsobeclearedonthemasterunitonlyby
selectingoption10(restoreconfigurationtofactorydefaults)fromthe bootmenuonswitch
startup.Thisselectionwillleavestackingprioritiesonallotherunits,ifapplicable.
Example
Thisexampleshowshowtoclearconfigurationparameters(includingstackingparameters,if
applicable):
D2(su)->clear config all
all (Optional)Clearsuserdefinedconfigurationparameters(andstackunit
numbersandpriorities,ifapplicable).
