Endocavity Probe Handling Precautions
Sterile/sanitary sheaths are to be used on the probe during its
actual use with patients. Wearing gloves protects the patient
and operator.
If there is disinfectant leaking from the probe, DO NOT use the
probe until it has been inspected and released for further use
by a GE service representative.
Disinfectant Exposure to Patient: contact with a disinfectant
to the patient’s skin or mucous membrane may cause an
inflammation. If this happens, refer to the disinfectant’s
instruction manual.
Disinfectant Exposure from Probe Handle to Patient: DO
NOT allow the disinfectant to contact the patient. Only immerse
the probe to its specified level. Ensure that no solution has
entered the probe’s handle before scanning the patient. If
disinfectant comes into contact with the patient, refer to the
disinfectant’s instruction manual.
Disinfectant Exposure from Probe Connector to Patient:
DO NOT allow the disinfectant to contact the patient. Only
immerse the probe to its specified level. Ensure that no solution
has entered the probe’s connector before scanning the patient.
If disinfectant comes into contact with the patient, refer to the
disinfectant’s instruction manual.
