DTC
• Before starting the inspection, check for loose or
poor contact
on
the 02 sensor cap connector and
recheck the DTC.
1. 02 Sensor Line Open Circuit Inspection
Turn the ignition switch OFF.
Disconnect the following:
-
ECM
21
P (Gray) connector
- 02 sensor cap (page 4-53)
Check the continuity between the
ECM
21
P (Gray)
connector
[1]
of
the wire harness side and 02 sensor
cap terminal [2].
CONNECTION:
Oz
sensor cap terminal -
85
(Black/orange)
STANDARD: Continuity
TOOL:
Test probe, 2 pack
07ZAJ-RDJA 110
Is there continuity?
YES - GO TO STEP

NO - Open circuit
in
the Black or Black/orange
wire
2. 02 Sensor Line Short Circuit Inspection
With the ECM
21
P (Gray) connector disconnected,
check for continuity between the
02 sensor cap
terminal
[1]
and ground.
CONNECTION:
02sensor
cap terminal - Ground
STANDARD: No continuity
TOOL:
Test probe, 2 pack 07ZAJ-RDJA 110
Is there continuity?
YES - Short circuit
in
the Black or Black/orange
wire
NO - GO TO STEP

02 Sensor Inspection
Replace the 02 sensor with a known good one
(page 4-53).
Clear the DTC (page 4-12).
Start the engine
and
warm the engine
up
to coolant
temperature
is
80
°C
(176 °C).
Test-ride the scooter
and
check the 02 sensor with
the MCS tester.
Is the DTC 21-1 indicated?
YES - Replace the
ECM
with a new one and
recheck.
NO - Faulty original 02 sensor
