Remove the back-up ring [1] from the fork slider [2].
INSPECTION
FORK SPRING
Measure the fork spring
[1]
free length.
STANDARD: 291.8 mm (11.49 in}
FORK PIPE/SLIDER/PISTON
Check the fork pipe [1], fork slider [2], and fork piston
[3]
for score marks and excessive or abnormal wear.
Check the fork piston ring [4] for wear or damage.
Check the rebound spring
[5]
for fatigue or damage.
Replace the components if necessary.
Place the fork pipe
on
V-block and measure the runout.
Actual runout
is
1/2 the total indicator reading.
