Solenoid Switch
1) Pull-in Coil
(Attraction Test)
1. Connect a jumper lead from the ST terminal to the positive
terminal of 6 V battery.
2. Connect a jumper lead between the C terminal and negative
terminal of 6 V battery.
3. If the plunger is attracted strongly, the pull-in coil is good; if
not, it is defective.
2} Holding Coil (Retention Test)
1. Connect a jumper lead from the ST terminal to the positive
terminal of 6 V battery.
2. Connect a jumper lead between the solenoid switch body
and negative terminal of 6 V battery, push the plunger in by
hand, and then release it.
3. If the plunger stays attracted, the holding coil is good; if not,
it is defective.
3) Plunger Return Stroke
1. Apply the rated voltage (approx. 12 V) between C terminal
and solenoid switch body.
Push the plunger in by hand, and then release the hand.
2. If the plunger returns immediately, it is good; if not, it is
defective_
Armature Coil
1. Check the continuity across the commutator and armature
shaft with an ohmmeter.
2. If it conducts. replace the armature.
