S.8 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
SERVICING
(1) Alternator Type [G1700·G1900]
Ball Bearing
1. Turn the ball bearing by hand, and check for binding or
abnormal sound.
2. If the bearing rotation is rough or noisy, replace it.

Stator Coil
1. Measure the resistance between the phases (measured
between each lead
wire drawn from each phase and the
neutral point).
2. If the factory specification is not indicated, replace the stator.
3. Measure the resistance between the each lead wire and core.
4. If infinity is not indicated. replace the stator.

• NOTE
• The stator coil is not liable to break during normal
operation. If there is no conduction. the connection of each
lead
wire should be checked.
Rotor Coil
1. Measure the resistance between the slip rings.
2. If the factory specification is not indicated, replace the rotor
assembly.
3. Measure the resistance between the slip ring and rotor core.
4. If infinity is not indicated, replace the rotor assembly.

Slip Ring
1. Check for smudging or surface roughness along the slip ring.
2. If some dressing is needed, use fine grade emery paper
(#300-500).
3. Measure the slip ring 0.0. with vernier calipers.
4. If the measurement is less than allowable limit, replace the
rotor assembly.
