8.3.6 Pole posion idencaon without movement
If a permanent-magnet synchronous motor is driven by the inverter, a "pole posion iden-
caon (PLI)" is required for an opmum and jerk-free starng torque. In the default seng, a
pole posion idencaon is executed aer each inverter enable. If the pole posion iden-
caon is deacvated, the motor may briey rotate backwards before starng or stall if the
starng torque is too high.
NOTICE
With an incorrect parameter seng and dimensioning of the inverter, the maximum permissi-
ble motor current may be exceeded during the pole posion idencaon.
Possible consequence: irreversible damage of the motor.
Set the motor data correctly. 4Motor data ^ 114
Only use an inverter that is performance-matched to the motor.
Precondions
The wiring of the three motor phases and the motor encoder must be carried out accord-
ing to the specicaons from the mounng instrucons.
The inverter is ready for operaon (no fault acve).
For the pole posion idencaon (PPI) without movement, the motor must be at stand-
sll. In order that the pole posion idencaon is only executed at standsll, set the start
method "Flying restart circuit [2]" in 0x2838:001 (P203.01).
Details
This funcon was developed for a wide range of motor characteriscs. In case of some motor
types, the idened pole posion may dier considerably from the real pole posion, so that
a considerable loss in torque and greater motor losses may occur.
The pole posion idencaon can be executed automacally aer every inverter enable if
"Aer each enable [2]" is selected in 0x2C63:001. Further sengs are not required for this
funcon.
Process of the pole posion idencaon:
1.
Aer inverter enable, a dened pulse paern is output that provides currents up to
approx. maximum motor current. The respecve currents are measured. Based on these
currents, the eld distribuon can be detected so that the pole posion can be calculated.
This process lasts maximally 1.8 seconds.
2.
Aer the pole posion idencaon has been carried out successfully, the motor follows
the setpoint selecon.
During the pole posion idencaon:
The current test pulses cause audible engine noises that may be increased by the machine
mechanics depending on the mechanical coupling!
The funcon can be aborted by the inverter disable any me without changing the set-
tings. In this case, you have to carry out the pole posion idencaon again.
If the funcon is aborted by itself, the motor features may not be suitable for this funcon.
If an error occurs during the pole posion idencaon,
the procedure is stopped without the sengs being changed.
the response set in 0x2C60 is eected.
