What This Manual Contains
This Service Manual covers four models of this printer series. This is a brief summary of the differences
between these machines:
J027
The NIC is mounted on the CTL board.
This model is not PCL compatible.
This model cannot be used with the options (the paper feed unit and multi bypass tray) and is not
equipped with the duplex unit.
J028
The NIC is mounted on the CTL board.
This model is PCL compatible.
J029
The NIC is mounted on the CTL board.
This model is PCL compatible.
This model is equipped with the wireless interface unit.
J035
The NIC is mounted on the CTL board.
This model is PCL compatible.
This model is a B/W printer. This can not use the color ink cartridges (Cyan, Magenta and Yellow)
and the small-size ink cartridges. However, the medium-size black ink cartridge for the color
models (GC41K) can be used.
This table below compares the four models covered in this Service Manual. The size and number of
components differ in some cases but their basic design and function are the same. The removal
procedures described in the manual apply to almost all models. And, some different procedures are
described separately.
