6.5.4 Cup plate heating
36V 5V DC
36V S L1, N
Operating condition
The cup plate heating is switched on, as soon as the mains disconnection unit is switched on.
Symptoms
The cup plate does not get warm, is warm on one side only (note heating time!)
Procedure
Process
step
Check Possible cause Remedy
1
Take voltage measurement at plug
X34 5/6 on power PCB:
36 V DC ?
Check the voltage supply (see
“Power PCB, control voltage”)
Voltage supply failure / faulty
2
Take voltage measurement at the
terminals rear casing panel::
36 V DC ?
Plug contacts on power PCB
faulty / oxidised
Cable broken or pulled out of
terminal / plug
Check / replace plug contacts
Replace cable or reinsert it into
the terminal
3
Take voltage measurement at the
plug contacts to the heating cable:
36 V DC ?
Plug contacts faulty / oxidised
Cable broken or pulled out of
terminal / plug
Check / replace plug contacts
Replace cable or reinsert it into
the terminal
Resistance measurements to heating foils:
Switch off voltage
Loosen the cable from the plug terminals
Make a visual check of the cable and the sealed connector
4
Carry out resistance measurement
on each heating foil;
Nominal resistance: (for each foil)
236 Ω ?
Heating foil(s) faulty
Heating foil cable broken (=loose
contact) or pulled out of connector
to foil
Replace heating foil(s)
Twist the cable to the two heating
foils and insert into the plug termi-
nals. Function check: Cup heater
operating correctly.
Poor terminal contact or plug or
wire pulled out
Carefully make the connection
again, and check the plug contacts
again.
