2.10 Lack of compliance with maintenance
rules
1. Schaerer assumes no liability for personal or property
damage or lost revenue to the contractual partner and/or
third parties which result from lack of compliance with
these maintenance rules.
2. The latest version of the maintenance rules is always
applicable. The contractual partner of Schaerer is obli-
gated to implement these rules immediately after receipt
of the new version and to impose these rules on all em-
ployees, representatives, partners, buyers etc. The con-
tractual partner is obligated to indemnify the Schaerer
company from all damage claims which result from a vio-
lation of theses rules.
2.11 Notes relating to the dismantling and
maintenance instructions
2.11.1 Illustrations
Dismantling and maintenance instructions are structured as
follows:
The left hand column contains a description of the work pro-
cedure in short form. Each individual work step is numbered.
Safety indications applicable in all cases are identified with the
hazard symbol.
The right-hand column contains an illustration of the work step
described. In principle, the illustrations are structured accord-
ing to the following rules:
All parts to be used for a work step are coloured in grey.
A pictogram shows the tool to be used, and indicates the
work procedure involved.
The work steps are labelled with numbers in square
borders.
Parts that have to be dismantled or installed are shown
as dotted lines in their dismantled position.
Arrows show the direction in which parts must be moved.
The illustrations do not contain any special indication regard-
ing elementary safety and “good craftsmanship” practice. (For
example: Holding screw fittings with a flat spanner when loos-
ening screws, switching off electrical power before opening
the machine casing, depressurising the system etc.)

2.11.2 Pictograms
The following list shows all the pictograms together with their
significance. Please study the particular features of each of
the pictograms. They show very helpful details such as the
number of similar elements, the number of turns when loosen-
ing screw fittings etc.
