Chapter 2 General notes for service technicians

2.11.3 Carrying out maintenance work
Introduction
Before starting any maintenance work it is recommended that
you carry out a general system check on the machine. This
check takes only a few minutes and serves to provide an
overall picture of the condition of the machine. Even if the
description of the fault indicates the plausibility of what needs
to be repaired/replaced, these couple of minutes should be
invested in order to increase the reliability and high level of
availability of the machine. As a rule these couple of minutes
are less expensive than a further service visit after only a short
time.
This check involves
an assessment of the condition of the machine
detection of subsequent preventative maintenance work.
detection of any possible operating or faulty system care
and corresponding guidance for the machine operator.

help to improve the reliability and serviceability of the ma-
chines.
