Theseatswitchisnormallyopenandcloseswhentheoperatorisontheseat.
Theseatswitchanditselectricalconnectorarelocatedintheseatassembly.If
thetractionsystemorPTOswitchisengagedwhentheoperatorraisesoutof
theseat,anoperatoradvisorywillbedisplayedontheInfoCenter.Testingofthe
switchcanbedonewithoutseatremovalbydisconnectingtheswitchwirefrom
themachinewireharness(Figure196).
Testing
Note:Beforedisconnectingtheseatswitchfortesting,theswitchanditscircuit
wiringshouldbetestedasaTECelectricalinputusingtheInfoCenterDisplay
(seeInfoCenterDisplay(page6–8)).Ifinputtestingveriesthattheseatswitch
andcircuitwiringarefunctioningcorrectly,nofurtherseatswitchtestingis
necessary.If,however,inputtestingdeterminesthattheseatswitchandcircuit
wiringarenotfunctioningcorrectly,proceedwiththefollowingseatswitchtesting
procedure.
1.Parkmachineonalevelsurface,lowercuttingdecks,engageparkingbrake
andstopengine.Removekeyfromignitionswitch.
2.Disconnectseatswitchconnectorfromthemachinewireharnessconnector.
3.Checkthecontinuityoftheswitchbyconnectingamultimeter(ohmssetting)
acrosstheseatswitchconnectorterminals.
4.Withnopressureontheseat,thereshouldbenocontinuitybetweenthe
seatswitchterminals.
5.Pressdirectlyontotheseatswitchthroughtheseatcushion.Thereshould
becontinuityastheseatcushionapproachesthebottomofitstravel.
6.Iftestingdeterminesthatseatswitchisfaulty,replaceseatswitch(see
OperatorSeatService(page8–22)).
7.Connectseatswitchconnectortowireharnessconnectoraftertestingis
complete.
