Thedieselparticulatelter(DPF)usedonYanmarTier4compliantenginesis
designedtobreakdownthehazardouselementsintheexhaustandpreventthe
dischargeofunburntfueloroilknownasparticulatematterorsoot.TheDPF
includesaDieselOxidationCatalyst(DOC),aSootFilter(SF),2temperature
sensors,andapressuredifferentialsensor.Additionalinformationregardingthe
DieselParticulateFilter(DPF)canbefoundintheYanmarOperationManual–
IndustrialEnginesTNVsuppliedwithyourmachine.
Regeneration
TheengineECUmonitorstheexhaustpressurebeforeandafterthesootlter
intheDPFtodetermineifsootisaccumulating.Ifsootisaccumulatingduring
normalengineoperation,thepressuredifferentialwillincrease.Theincrease
inpressurewillsignaltheenginetobeginaprocesscalledregeneration.
Regenerationincreasestheexhausttemperatureandthelengthoftimethe
engineoperatesatahigherthannormalexhausttemperature,incineratingthe
builtupsootandturningitintoash.Thedifferenttypesofregenerationusedare
listedinorderbasedontheamountofparticulatematterinthesootlter(leastto
most).Thelengthoftimetheenginewilloperateatahigherthannormalexhaust
temperaturetoburnoutthesootisalsorelatedtotheamountofparticulate
matterinthesootlter.
