– Remove the two bolts -1- (1.5 Nm).
– Release storage compartments -2- from centre console and
disconnect wiring harness (dependent on vehicle equipment).
Note
An ashtray may be installed instead of a storage compartment,
but the removal is identical.
2.10.2 Installing
– Install in reverse order of removal.

partment / ashtray unit (Golf 2009 ▸)
2.11.1 Removing
– Switch off ignition.
Vehicles with automatic gearbox
– Loosen gear lever boot from cover ⇒ Rep. Gr. 37
Vehicles with manual or direct shift gearbox
– Loosen gear lever boot from cover ⇒ Rep. Gr. 34
All vehicles
– Remove the two bolts -1- (1.5 Nm).
– Release ashtray unit -2- from centre console and disconnect
wiring harness (dependent on vehicle equipment).
Note
A storage compartment may be installed instead of an ashtray,
but removal is identical.

– Install in reverse order of removal.
