Electro-Mechanical Parking Brake Testing
NOTE:Forthisprocedure,refertoFIGURE 10.4.
1. Onthefour‐pinmotorconnector,locatetheside‐by‐sideconnectorsintheblack
housings(FIGURE 10.4).
2. Setthedigitalmultimetertoreadohms(Ω).
3. Measuretheresistancebetweenthetwobrakecontacts.Anormalreadingisbetween
45‐100ohmsdependingonthemotor.Areadingof0ohms(Ω)oraveryhighreading;
i.e.,MEGohmsorO.L.(outoflimit)indicatesashortedbrakeoranopenconnection
respectively.Ifeitherconditionexists,sendthemotortoInvacareTechnicalServicefor
inspection/repair.
WARNING
A shorted electro-mechanical brake will damage the brake output section in the
controller. DO NOT connect a shorted electro-mechanical brake to a good control-
ler module. A shorted brake MUST be replaced.
NOTE:AbadmotorcandamagethecontrollermodulebutabadcontrollerwillNOTdamagea
motor.
