Replacing the On-Board Battery Charger
WARNING
DO NOT replace the battery charger fuse with anything other than a 250V 6.3 Amp
fuse. Otherwise, equipment damage and/or personal injury may occur.
DO NOT attempt to remove the battery charger with power applied to the wheel-
chair. Otherwise, equipment damage and/or personal injury may occur.

NOTE:On‐boardchargernotusedonwheelchairsequippedwithapoweredseatingsystem.
NOTE:Takenoteofpositionandorientationofbatterychargerwiresandtie‐wrapsfor
reinstallation.
NOTE:Theoutputofthebatterychargerisfusedwitha250V,6.3ampfuse.Thefuseholderis
locatedatthetopofthechargerasitismountedtothewheelchair.Thisfuseshouldbecheckedfirst
beforereplacingthebatterychargerforimproperoperation.RefertoReplacingtheOn‐Board

NOTE:Reversethisproceduretoinstalltheon‐boardbatterycharger.
1. Removethebatteriesfromthewheelchair.RefertoInstalling/RemovingtheBatteries
onpage 103.
2. Removetherearshroud.RefertoRemoving/InstallingtheShroudsonpage 88.
3. Performoneofthefollowing:
•M91Before12/19/03(Detail“A ” ofFIGURE 11.4)
i. Openrearshroudbyturningtheknob90°untildetentcatchisfelt,thenslide
rearshroudtowardtherearcastersandlifttopedgeawayfromtherearofthe
wheelchairframe.
ii. Disconnectthebatterychargercablefromthecontrollerchargercable.
iii. Releasehookandloopstrapsecuringchargertothewheelchairframe
