Inspect the starter mount. If the mounts are dam-
aged
or
worn, replace by removing the mount
using a crescent wrench.
Apply Locquic Primer and
Screw Lock to threads
of new mount.
Tighten mount securely.
Insta" caps
on
starter
mounts.

Insta" the starter lockout cable into the starter
housing.
Position the starter assembly onto the outboard.
Insta" the three starter housing retaining screws.
The short screw
is
installed
on
the port side of the
starter housing. Tighten screws and torque 48 to
72
in.
Ibs.
(5.4 to 8 N·m).

Check operation of starter and starter lockout.
Starter
should crank outboard
in
NEUTRAL gear.
Starter MUST NOT
crank
outboard
in FOR-
WARD
or
REVERSE gear.
