4. Once the pistons are removed, use a pick to carefully
remove the square O-rings from the caliper. O-rings
should be replaced during caliper service.
5. Clean the caliper body, piston, and retaining bracket
with brake cleaner or alcohol.
IMPORTANT: Be sure to clean the seal grooves in
caliper body.
Caliper Inspection
1. Inspect caliper body for nicks, scratches, pitting or
wear. Measure bore size and compare to
specifications. Replace if damaged or worn beyond
service limit.
2. Inspect piston for nicks, scratches, pitting or wear.
Measure piston diameter and replace if damaged or
worn beyond service limit.
3. Inspect the brake disc and pads as outlined in this
chapter.
Caliper Piston Bore I.D.:
Std: 1.192” (30.28 mm)
Service Limit: 1.194” (34.33 mm)
Caliper Piston O.D.:
Std: 1.186” (30.12 mm)
Service Limit: 1.184” (30.07 mm)
