S.M.A.R.T. Collector Overview7.1
S.M.A.R.T. is a secured web-based application. It uses the Remote Control Service
(RCS) to interface with the mailing system in order to remotely control the machine
and perform other functions such as accounting, shipping and customer reporting.
S.M.A.R.T. application has an exclusive accounts management (creation, edition and
deletion). S.M.A.R.T. Collector Accounts are created on S.M.A.R.T. and pushed into the
mailing system for accounting chargeback.
You benefit from a regular upload of statistics from the mailing system to S.M.A.R.T..
Your Mailing System connects to S.M.A.R.T. application via the same network connection
you use to add postage to your meter. All connections are secure, and data is maintained
under strict privacy policies.
If the connection is unsuccessful, check your connection settings
(see Connection Settings on page 329)
The S.M.A.R.T. Collector mode should be setup by an authorised
technician.
Changes in the Mailing System with S.M.A.R.T. Data
Collector
When your mailing system is in S.M.A.R.T. Collector Mode:
• Accounts are already created on the Mailing System they will be deleted.
• Accounts are no more managed on the Mailing System: no account mode, no
accounts creation / modification / deletion and no import / export accounts.
• Account is not saved in the Job Memory.
• The accounting reports are no longer generated by the Mailing System.
• RCS report is available.
• Synchronise Data Collector menu is added.
