3.4 Throttle cable
a. Throttle cable/linkage adjustment
1. Stop the engine and remove the spark plug cap.
2. Verify that the governor spring is connected to the lower hole on the control arm. If
necessary, reposition the spring.
3. Move the throttle lever to “FAST” position.
4. The throttle arm should just contact the choke arm and the choke should be fully open.
Clearance [A] 0-1mm
5. If adjustment is necessary, loosen the throttle cable lock nuts and adjust the cable as
required.
6. Move the throttle lever to “CHOKE” position and verify that the choke arm is fully
raised (choke fully closed) by pushing it with your finger.
7. Adjust screw B (upper screw) so it just contacts the throttle arm when the choke arm is
fully raised.
8. After the throttle cable/linkage adjustment, make sure that the maximum engine
speed is in the specified range.
b. Maximum engine speed adjustment
NOTE:
adjust the throttle cable/linkage before maximum engine speed adjustment.
1. Run the engine outdoor at idle speed until it reaches normal operating temperature.
2. Move the throttle lever to “FAST” position and hold the ROTOSTOP lever, make sure
that the engine speed is in the specified range.

3. To adjust, turn the adjusting screw A to obtain the specified engine speed.
4. If the engine speed is too low and can not be adjusted by turning the screw A, adjust
the governor (ch. 3.10).
