10. CYLINDER HEAD / VALVES
10.1 Removal / Installation
NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the engine.
1. Remove the following:
Air cleaner and muffler (ch. 6).
Fuel tank (ch. 7).
Carburetor (ch. 8).
[1] CYLINDER HEAD GASKET
[2] CYLINDER HEAD SCREW,8x50mm(4)
REMOVAL / INSTALLATION: Loosen and tighten the screws in a criss-cross pattern in
2 - 3 steps.
TIGHTNING TORQUE: 24 N.m
[3] HEAD COVER GASKET
[4] SCREW,6x14mm(4)
[5] CYLINDER HEAD COVER
[6] SPARK PLUG
INSPECTION:ch. 3.2
Recommended spark plug:
HRA536 - HRD536/K1/K2: BPR5ES (NGK)
W16EPR-U (NIPPONDENSO Co. Ltd)
HRD535/K1/K2: BPR5ES (NGK)
[7] CYLINDER HEAD ASSEMBLY
INSTALLATION: Before installation, remove any carbon deposits from the combustion
chamber.
After installation, check the cylinder compression (ch. 2.7).
