6.2 Muffler
a. Disassembly / Reassembly
The engine and exhaust system become hot during operation and remain hot for a
while after stopping.
A hot engine and exhaust system can burn you and can ignite some materials.
Avoid touching a hot engine or exhaust system. Allow the engine to cool before
servicing the spark arrester.
NOTE:
Muffler servicing can be accomplished with the engine installed.
[1] MUFFLER
REASSEMBLY: When reassembly, remove the carbon deposits from the muffler by
tapping lightly with plastic hammer.
[2] MUFFLER GASKET
[3] SPACER (2)
[4] MUFFLER PROTECTOR
[5] NUT, 6 mm (2)
TIGHTENING TORQUE: 10 N.m
[6] SPARK ARRESTER (OPTIONAL PART)
CLEANING: ch. 3.13
[7] IDENTIFICATION PLATE (OPTIONAL PART)
