• NOTE
• The
primary
and secondary coils can be checked
only
from
outside.
If
the
spark fails even
when
the
measured resistances
of
the
primary
and
secondary coils are normal,
the
trouble
may result
from
a defective
ignition
controller.
If
the
ignition
controller
is
defective,
the
entire
ignition
unit
must
be replaced.

1.
Disconnect
the
1 P
connector
between
the
stop
switch and
ignition
unit.
2.
Measure
the
resistance
with
an
ohmmerter
across
the
1P
connector (2) and
grounding
(1)
when
the
throttle
lever
is
set
to
"Stop"
and
"lo"
positions.
3.
If
the
specified value
is
not
indicated, replace
the
stop switch.
Resistance across 1 P
connector and

Coil Test (Simplified Test
with
Ohmmeter)
1.
Disconnect
the
1 P connector between
the
ignition
unit
and stop switch.
2.
Disconnect
the
high
voltage cord
from
the
spark
plug.
3.
Measure
the
primary coil resistance across
the
1P
connector (1) and
ignition
unit
core (3)
or
cylinder
block.
4.
Measure
the
secondary coil resistance across
the
high voltage cord (2) and
ignition
unit
core (3) or
cylinder block by removing
the
spark
plug
cap.
5.
Replace
the
ignition
unit
if
the
measurement
is
quite
different
from
the
factory
spec.
