Valve Clearance
• IMPORTANT
• Valve clearance
must be checked and adjusted
when engine is cold.
1. Remove the air cleaner cover.
2. Remove the bonnet with the recoil starter.
3. Remove the cylinder head cover.
4. Put the piston in the compression top dead center.
•
NOTE
• Turn the rotor clockwise. and the intake valve will
be closed first and the exhaust valve will be
immediately opened for a short time by the
decompression pin. After the exhaust valve has
been closed again. the piston comes in the
compression top dead center.
5. Check the intake and exhaust valve clearance with
a feeler gauge.
6. If the clearance is not within the factory
specifications, adjust with the adjusting nut.

NOTE
• After adjusting the valve clearance. secure the
adjusting nut with the lock nut.

DISASSEMBLING AND ASSEMBLING
(1) External Components
Mower Blade Clutch
1. Remove the recoil starter (5).
2. Remove the return spring (4) and unscrew the
three flange screws (3).
3. Fix the rotor with a brass rod, and loosen the
flange screw (2).
4. Tap the flange screw with a plastic hammer to
remove the mower blade clutch (1).
(When reassembling)
•
Apply molybdenum disulfide lubricants (Three
Bond 1901 or equivalent) to the spline of the
crankshaft.
