Note: Three properties can be changed using DeviceInstaller: Name, Group,
and Comments. The remaining properties can only be viewed using
DeviceInstaller. However, they can be changed using one of the EDS4100
configuration methods described under Configuration Methods on page 26 and
DeviceInstaller will reflect the change.
Starting DeviceInstaller
Follow the instructions on the product CD to install and run DeviceInstaller.
Note: Write down the MAC address. You can find the MAC address on the
bottom of the EDS4100.
1. From the Windows Start menu, click Start, point to Programs, Lantronix, and
DeviceInstaller, and click DeviceInstaller.
2. Click the EDS4100 folder. The list of Lantronix EDS4100 devices available will
appear.
3. Expand the list of EDS4100 by clicking the + symbol next to the EDS4100 icon.
4. Select the EDS4100 unit by clicking on its IP address to view its configuration.
Viewing EDS4100 Properties
To view the EDS4100’s properties, in the right window, click the Device Details tab. The
current properties for the EDS4100 appear. Table 3-4 lists the EDS4100 properties and
whether they are user configurable or read only.

Yes Enter comments for the EDS4100. Double-click
on the field, type in the value, and press Enter

No Displays the EDS4100’s device family type as
EDS.
Type

Displays the device type as EDS4100.
ID
No Displays the EDS4100’s ID embedded within
the box.
Hardware
Address
No Displays the EDS4100’s hardware address.
Firmware
Version
No Displays the firmware currently installed on the
EDS4100.
