improves the precision of position recording in the scan direction, because the
error from the encoder-wheel motion during the index is eliminated (see
Figure 2-2 on page 32). This mode allows to use the laser guide for improved
scanning precision.

Bidirectional Mode
The main advantage of a bidirectional scan is the limited back-and-forth
movement of the RollerFORM. This way, faster mapping can be achieved when
scanning a long part (see Figure 2-3 on page 33).
