6-34 Instruments and warning lamps
6 ABS warning lamp
This lamp comes on when the starter key is turned
to “ON”. It should go out a few seconds later. If the
lamp comes on again, this indicates there is a mal-
function in the antilock braking system (ABS).
Should this lamp illuminate during driving, stop the
vehicle in a safe place and perform the following
inspection.
1. Turn the starter key to the “OFF” position and
then to the “ON” position again.
2. Determine the system condition as follows:
• The system is normal if the warning lamp goes
out a few seconds later.
• The system is faulty if the warning lamp stays on
for longer than a few seconds or it goes off but
comes on again.
• The system is normal if the warning lamp goes
off in a few seconds after the starter key is
turned to “ON”. The system is also normal if the
warning lamp does not go off a few seconds but
then goes off as soon as the vehicle is started.
3. If the system is found to be faulty, have the sys-
tem repaired by an authorized dealer as soon as
possible.
NOTE:
Even with the ABS faulty and the warning lamp
remaining lit, the normal brake system is still func-
tioning satisfactorily. Only the ABS function is lost.
Drive with great care on slippery surfaces with the
vehicle in this condition.
7 Engine overheating warning lamp
•
This lamp comes on if the engine coolant tem-
perature becomes abnormally high. When this
lamp illuminates, the engine power is limited,
but the vehicle can still be driven.
• If a buzzer sounds while this lamp is illuminated
and the indication (red) is shown on the
multi-information display, the engine has over-
heated. P. 13-8
